We're GL4, a community interest company based in Matson
We bring high quality shows to our estate by transforming local community spaces into a theatre. We're a non-profit organisation, which started in 2016 and became a registered company back in December 2017.
We programme several shows throughout the year and organise a weekly term-time youth programme. As well as a week-long summer school in the 6 weeks holidays.
“Seeing my daughter grow in confidence in a week has been amazing
Great job and team of staff.”
Emma-Jane Benning and Sarah Blowers, Co-Artistic Director at Strike A Light, attended a meeting in our local community. We were asked if we could transform the sports hall into a theatre to bring two shows based around council estates to life.
The first show was a smashing success and sold out instantly. Since then we've continued to work with Strike A Light to pull together high quality shows for the whole community to enjoy, which are affordable and accessible to all.
We want to break down the barriers that people feel when they think of visiting the theatre. Creativity should be easily accessible, just like sports is. Sport is a high physical activity, which is good for the body, where creativity is amazing for peoples health and wellbeing.
Our dream is to have our own arts centre in our community. Where we can run music, dance and drama classes and bring high quality shows that support local artists.
We have proudly been working in partnership with Strike A light, who are based in Glouster city. We've only just begun our journey.
