Strike A Light: About Us

STRIKE A LIGHT

Strike A Light is a Gloucester-based organisation striving to make Gloucester a city with a vibrant culture for all.

We programme world class drama and dance for people across Gloucester, run weekly classes where children and young people work alongside experienced arts professionals, and support diverse artists making new shows.

WHAT WE BELIEVE

We are a charity and believe that everyone, regardless of their background, should be able to experience, watch and take part in creative activity. We are supported by some brilliant funders, which allows us to subsidise ticket prices and offer free places for young people on activities.

So far, Strike A Light have welcomed thousands of audience members, supported dozens of performers and companies to create new shows and given hundreds of young people the chance to take part in arts activities – often for the first time.

WHAT WE'VE ACHIEVED

Audiences have danced on rooftops, made a meal for 100 people. Been part of a National Theatre show,  explored Gloucester’s housing estates with a group of teenagers. Become part of a flash mob, eaten fish and chips while young people performed a beatbox show. And watched high quality national touring work in empty shops, churches, community centres, schools and Gloucester streets.
